The Cipher Manuscripts are a collection of folios used by the Golden Dawn to outline magickal initiation rituals corresponding with the four classical elements.
The manuscripts contain a series of magickal rituals based in the kabbalah and in hermetic beliefs. These rituals include the classical elements, astrology, tarot, and alchemy.
There is controversy as to when the folios were written. The cotton based paper is watermarked for the year 1809 and the content written contains knowledge of ancient Egypt no known until the year 1822.
